MTNA-Print Version
Write for VCCI
VCCI is intended to be a community and will be most successful when MTNA members contribute to the collective wisdom and experience. Members are encouraged to submit articles, essays and short anecdotes about life as a musician. We particularly invite submissions on topics including performance, pedagogy, and wellness.
VCCI invites the submission of short articles (750-1000 words) for inclusion on the VCCI web site.
Article Submission
VCCI will only accept articles submitted as a Microsoft Word or text document and sent via e-mail attachment. When necessary, use endnotes according to the Chicago manual of style. For periodicals, include volume number and date of the issue.
- Manuscript should include a brief abstract/synopsis of the article.
- The author's name or other identifying marks should not appear anywhere on the manuscript.
- The author's name, address, phone number, fax number, e-mail address and a 2-3 sentence biography should be on a separate page.
- Manuscripts should be submitted to jmiranda@mtna.org with the subject line VCCI Article Submission.
- Receipt of the manuscript will be acknowledged.
Article Review
Most articles are reviewed individually by three members of the VCCI Advisory Committee, who will recommend one of three courses of action:
- accept with definite publication
- accept for further consideration or
- reject
Based on these recommendations, a final decision will be made regarding a course of action.
The author's identity remains unknown to everyone but the MTNA staff throughout the review process.
Authors will be notified of the decision but will not be given any commentary on rejected articles unless the author is a collegiate member.

VCCI is a living, breathing concept that is in its formative stage - these guidelines are subject to revision.
