MTNA–Benjamin Whitten
Collegiate Chapter of the Year

The MTNA Collegiate Chapter of the Year Award is named for renowned teacher and MTNA benefactor, Benjamin Whitten, for his financial support of the award. It is given to the MTNA collegiate chapter that demonstrates excellence in its chapter activities. The University of Oklahoma MTNA Collegiate Chapter is the recipient of the 2009 Benjamin Whitten MTNA Collegiate Chapter of the Year Award and co-advisors Jane Magrath, NCTM, and Barbara Fast, NCTM, as recipients of the Benjamin Whitten MTNA Collegiate Chapter Advisors of the Year Award. The president of the University of Oklahoma MTNA Collegiate Chapter is Rachel Schmoyer.
The University of Oklahoma was selected as the recipient of this award based on a variety of activities undertaken by the chapter, including professional development, social activities, networking and service/outreach. The committee was impressed that these activities are student-initiated and executed and also by the degree to which all members of the chapter are involved in each activity.

Barbara Fast and Jane Magrath, center, were named the MTNA Benjamin Whitten Collegiate Chapter Advisors of the Year. MTNA Executive Director & CEO Gary Ingle and MTNA President Gail Berenson, NCTM, presented the award.
