University of Oklahoma Named Collegiate Chapter of the Year

CINCINNATI (April 2007)—The University of Oklahoma Collegiate Chapter in Norman, Oklahoma, has been selected as the 2007 MTNA Collegiate Chapter of the Year.

Advised by Jane Magrath, NCTM, and Barbara Fast, NCTM, the University of Oklahoma MTNA Student Chapter has 29 members who are all graduate students in piano. This chapter was selected because it successfully demonstrates a broad range of activity through business, service and fundraising projects. The chapter’s strong leadership and depth of participation was also noted.

Led by chapter president Janci Bronson, the OU MTNA Collegiate Chapter has worked to foster the musical interests of the local Norman community. The chapter sponsored an essay contest for students of Norman Area Music Teachers Association (NAMTA) members, with the winner receiving two free tickets to an Oklahoma City
