When teaching Bach Inventions, I like to have the students break down the piece into sections: A, B, C, D and so on, and practice starting at each place. Then I have them memorize the last line first so it will become more and more secure. Then in performance, you will leave a grande finale in the ears of your audience. -Joann Hall, Grand Junction MTA
Gear repertoire choices to the students' personalities. Stretch them from where they are, not where you think they should be. -Submitted by Susan Dersnah Fee, NCTM, San Diego, California
Always try to have a new, a review, a performance and a one-week study piece with all techniques and other elements.
