2016 Best Communities For Music Education Survey

October 15, 2015

Music teachers and school administrators are invited to complete the 2016 Best Communities for Music Education survey between now until January 30, 2016. Throughout the survey’s 17-year history, many districts have reported that making the “Best Communities” list supports efforts to preserve and advance their music education programs.

In 2015, The NAMM Foundation recognized 388 districts and 120 individual schools in 46 states. As the survey moves into its 17th year, many designees have reported that making the “Best Communities” or “SupportMusic Merit” list has helped their community to preserve and advance music education programs.

The BCME program survey asks detailed questions about funding, music class participation, facilities, and other factors that affect access to music education. The responses are verified with district officials, and researchers at The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas review the data. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and greater access to music education.
