Award Applications

MTNA annually presents the following awards, which recognize excellence in music teaching, research and other significant contributions to music education.

MarySue Harris Studio Teacher Fellowship Award is presented to the candidate who most clearly demonstrates a strong commitment to the music teaching profession. The program was established to help music teachers develop and enhance their newly established studios. 

The MTNA Collegiate Chapter of the Year Award is given to the MTNA Collegiate Chapter that demonstrates excellence in its chapter activities. 

Teacher of the Year Award is presented to the candidate who most clearly demonstrates a strong commitment to the music teaching profession. 

State Affiliate of the Year Award recognizes the state Music Teachers Association that makes the most significant contribution to the music teaching profession through participation in MTNA national programs and additional programs established within their state. 

Local Association of the Year Award recognizes the local Music Teachers Association that makes the most significant contribution to the music teaching profession through participation in MTNA national programs and additional programs established within their state and local area.

National Piano Foundation RMM Teacher Scholarship is available, in part to a generous grant from the NAMM Foundation. A limited number of $500–$750 scholarships are available to MTNA piano teachers who are interested in learning more about Recreational Music Making (RMM). These scholarships must be used for travel, lodging, membership, fees and other costs associated with attending the 2017 MTNA Pedagogy Saturday RMM Track.

Piano Technicians Guild Scholarships are financial-assistance grants, provided by the Piano Technicians Guild and the Piano Technicians Guild Foundation, presented to a nationally certified MTNA member for furthering one’s teaching skills through continued education and/or performance study.
