Affiliate Resources
MTNA is committed to equipping its state and local affiliates with the tools they need to thrive. Affiliates benefit from essential resources such as liability insurance, ASCAP music licensing, abuse insurance, and participation in MTNA’s 501(c)(3) group tax exemption. In addition, affiliates gain access to the MTNA Leadership Community, a comprehensive library of resources designed to support effective leadership, organizational growth, and long-term success.
General Liability and Abuse Insurance
MTNA is very pleased to offer general liability insurance coverage for every MTNA-affiliated State and Local Association. Every State and Local Association is covered under this policy for an unlimited number of events at no cost to any individual association. MTNA has agreed to pay the cost of this premium. This insurance is not available to individuals.
501(c)(3) Group Tax Exemption
State and local MTNA affiliates may apply for 501(c)(3) status through MTNA's group exemption process. Among the advantages of 501(c)(3) status, affiliates can accept
charitable contributions that will be tax deductible to the contributor and claim exemption from state sales tax.
ASCAP Music Licensing
MTNA has a special licensing agreement with the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), granting MTNA and its Divisions, State and Local Affiliates a blanket license to publicly perform copyrighted music, if the copyright holder is a member of ASCAP, for the entire organization.
Best Practices for Protecting Minors in Student Programs
While each affiliate’s event details will be different, these guidelines are intended to provide general direction to volunteer leaders when planning competitions, festivals, conferences, master classes, auditions, and other student activities. Affiliates should also ensure compliance with all applicable state and local laws, including mandatory reporting requirements.
Local Association Resources
Our members are part of a powerful network of teaching professionals through their involvement in local associations activities. Local Associations provide special educational programming, festivals and opportunities to meet new friends with common interests.
Collegiate Chapter Resources
MTNA collegiate chapters work to enhance students’ classroom studies by providing educational, musical, social and professional experiences. The goal of each chapter is to acquaint students with professional opportunities and career options in the music field, while developing professional leadership skills.
