Video Instructions

MTNA partners with Acceptd, a digital platform used for auditions, to run the Division Competitions. Entrants must sign up for an Acceptd account in order to upload their performance videos. Sign up (or login) for an account here. The Acceptd platform opens for Division video submissions on October 1.

  1. Videos must be of high quality. Click here for tips about recording your videos.
  2. Video recording must be focused such that the performer is visible at all times, including head, feet and instrument—Full body visible for everyone! Head to toe or it is a “No Go”! Pianists—video side profile. Instrumentalists may choose the profile that best suits their performance traditions.
  3. Videos must include the collaborative pianist. If performance space is an issue, at least get a partial view of the collaborative pianist.
  4. Preferred orientation of recording: Horizontal
  5. Videos must be taken from a "fixed" shot (audience view), meaning the camera doesn't move -no panning, tilting, or zooming.
  6. No editing of recordings.
  7. Teacher names should not be included or announced anywhere in the video.
  8. Videos must contain all repertoire listed on the original registration.
  9. Multimovement works under 20 minutes (4 Gigabytes) will be recorded in one consecutive take with no editing.
  10. Multimovement works over 20 minutes must submit a separate recording and link for every individual movement and piece that is submitted. For example, if the entrant is submitting a 3-movement Beethoven sonata, a Chopin etude, and Debussy Ballade, the student will have 5 separate recordings, each with a unique URL. Preludes & Fugues are considered a single piece. The file size limit is 4GB (20–30 mins). No editing is allowed. Each selection must be labeled with the title and composer. For individual movements of a larger work, label with the title, Roman numeral of movement and composer. See Example: Sonata in F Minor, Op. 2, No. 1, I., Beethoven.

  11. Video recording must have been taken within the last 3 months. Entrants may choose to use the videos entered for the state competition, record new videos or a combination of both; however, the video(s) must contain all repertoire listed on the original, approved registration.
  12. The following file types are compatible with the Acceptd platform: MP4, MPEG, MPG, MOV, AVI, WMV, M4V, FLV, WEBM, MKV and M2V. YouTube links cannot be submitted.
  13. Only repertoire originally written for unaccompanied instrument or voice may be performed without a collaborative pianist.
  14. Check videos for sound quality prior to uploading.
  15. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST DAY TO SUBMIT VIDEOS.
  16. A high-speed internet connection is recommended.
  17. Chrome is the preferred browser for Acceptd.
  18. Should you have problems uploading videos, try uploading one at a time, making sure each upload is complete prior to starting the next upload.
  19. Judges will listen to a portion or all of each video up to the following time limits (review Performance Guidelines ):
